Buffer overflow in Hilgraeve, Inc. HyperTerminal client on Windows 98, ME, and 2000 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a long telnet URL, aka the "HyperTerminal Buffer Overflow" vulnerability.

The weakness was disclosed 12/19/2000 by Ussr Labs with Microsoft (Website). The advisory is available at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2000-0991. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

Upgrading to version 6.1 eliminates this vulnerability.
