Alt-N Technologies MDaemon 5.0.5.0 and earlier creates a default MDaemon mail account with a password of MServer, which could allow remote attackers to send anonymous email.

The weakness was released 12/31/2002 by Obscure (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2002-1738 since 06/21/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1110.001 for this issue.
