Vignette StoryServer 4 and 5, and Vignette V/5 and V/6, with the SSI EXEC feature enabled, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a text variable to a Vignette Application that is later displayed.

The weakness was presented 07/02/2003 with S21SEC (Website). The advisory is available at marc.info. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2003-0398 since 06/10/2003. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
