A vulnerability has been found in Melis Platform MelisAssetManager up to 5.0.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

MelisAssetManager provides deliveries of Melis Platform's assets located in every module's public folder. Attackers can read arbitrary files on affected versions of `melisplatform/melis-asset-manager`, leading to the disclosure of sensitive information. Conducting this attack does not require authentication. Users should immediately upgrade to `melisplatform/melis-asset-manager` >= 5.0.1. This issue was addressed by restricting access to files to intended directories only.

The weakness was disclosed 10/12/2022 by The disclosure as GHSA-7fj2-rrq6-rphq. The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2022-39296 since 09/02/2022. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1006 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 5.0.1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying the patch a0f75918c049aff78953a0bc91c585153595d1bd is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
