A vulnerability was found in 2wire Homeportal up to 1500w. It has been classified as problematic. This affects some unknown functionality of the file wra/public/wralogin. The manipulation of the argument return
with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in wra/public/wralogin in 2Wire Gateway, possibly as used in HomePortal and other product lines, allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the return parameter. NOTE: this issue was reported as XSS, but this might be a terminology error.
