A vulnerability was found in Chipmunk Scripts Chipmunk Forum (Forum Software) (affected version not known) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file newtopic.php. The manipulation of the argument forumID
with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Chipmunk Forum script allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the forumID parameter to (1) newtopic.php, (2) quote.php, (3) index.php, and (4) reply.php.
The weakness was released 10/20/2005 by trueend5 as not defined posting (Bugtraq). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3514 since 11/06/2005. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
