The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in sesskglogadmin.php in KGB 1.9 and earlier allows remote attackers to include and execute arbitrary local files via a .. (dot dot) in the skinnn parameter, as demonstrated by invoking kg.php with a postek parameter containing PHP code, which is injected into a file in the kg directory, and then included by sesskglogadmin.php.
The weakness was shared 01/15/2007 by Kacper (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2007-0337 since 01/17/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
A public exploit has been developed in Perl. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as functional. By approaching the search of inurl:sesskglogadmin.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
