my.activation.php3 in F5 FirePass 4100 SSL VPN allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands via shell metacharacters in the username parameter.

The bug was discovered 02/14/2007. The weakness was shared 06/04/2007 by Leonardo Nve (Website). The advisory is shared at secunia.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-3097 since 06/06/2007. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 111 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
