A vulnerability has been found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.3.1 (Operating System) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component DHCP. Directory Services in Apple Mac OS X 10.0.2, 10.0.3, 10.2.8, 10.3.2 and Apple Mac OS X Server 10.2 through 10.3.2 accepts authentication server information from unknown LDAP or NetInfo sources as provided by a malicious DHCP server, which allows remote attackers to gain privileges.
The bug was discovered 10/09/2003. The weakness was presented 11/26/2003 by William Carrel (Website). The advisory is available at carrel.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2003-1009 since 12/17/2003. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but an exploit is available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/09/2021). This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
