Unspecified vulnerability in the SSH server in (1) Cisco Service Control Engine (SCE) 3.0.x before 3.0.7 and 3.1.x before 3.1.0, and (2) Icon Labs Iconfidant SSH before 2.3.8, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (management interface outage) via SSH traffic that occurs during management operations and triggers "illegal I/O operations," aka Bug ID CSCsh49563.

The bug was discovered 05/21/2008. The weakness was published 05/22/2008 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2008-0536 since 01/31/2008. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.

Upgrading to version 3.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
