The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in Simple PHP Newsletter 1.5 allow remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the olang parameter to (1) mail.php and (2) mailbar.php.
The weakness was disclosed 01/29/2009 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at milw0rm.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-0340 since 01/29/2009.
