Mozilla Firefox 3.0.8 and earlier 3.0.x versions allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via an XML document composed of a long series of start-tags with no corresponding end-tags. NOTE: it was later reported that 3.0.10 and earlier are also affected.

The bug was discovered 03/30/2009. The weakness was released 04/02/2009 as Bug 485941 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2009-1232 since 04/02/2009. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
