CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Intel e1000 and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function e1000_clean_rx_irq of the file drivers/net/e1000/e1000_main.c of the component e1000 Driver. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a numeric error vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-189. Impacted is availability. CVE summarizes:

Integer underflow in the e1000_clean_rx_irq function in drivers/net/e1000/e1000_main.c in the e1000 driver in the Linux kernel before 2.6.30-rc8, the e1000e driver in the Linux kernel, and Intel Wired Ethernet (aka e1000) before 7.5.5 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (panic) via a crafted frame size.

The weakness was released 06/02/2009 as Bug 502981 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1385 since 04/23/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 39510 (Fedora 9 : kernel-2.6.27.25-78.2.56.fc9 (2009-6846)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165654 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security Update Linux Kernel (SUSE-SA:2009:045)).

Upgrading to version 6.0.60 eliminates this vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (50921) and Tenable (39510).
