Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Web Inspector in WebKit in Apple Safari before 4.0 allows user-assisted remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML, and read local files, via vectors related to the improper escaping of HTML attributes.
The bug was discovered 06/08/2009. The weakness was shared 06/08/2009 by Tavis Ormandy (Shadow) with Microsoft Vulnerability Research (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2009-1714 since 05/20/2009. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
