A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 (Web Browser). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function AddFavorite
of the component URL Handler. The manipulation of the argument first
with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Stack-based buffer overflow in the AddFavorite method in Microsoft Internet Explorer allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) and possibly have unspecified other impact via a long URL in the first argument.
