The weakness was disclosed 07/14/2009 with Oracle (Website). The advisory is available at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-1021 since 03/19/2009. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 56065 (Oracle Database Multiple Vulnerabilities (July 2009 CPU)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Databases. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19574 (Oracle Database July 2009 Patch Set Update (PSU) 10.2.0.4.1 Not Installed (Patch 8576156)).
