The XPCVariant::VariantDataToJS function in the XPCOM implementation in Mozilla Firefox 3.0.x before 3.0.15 and 3.5.x before 3.5.4 does not enforce intended restrictions on interaction between chrome privileged code and objects obtained from remote web sites, which allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary JavaScript with chrome privileges via unspecified method calls, related to "doubly-wrapped objects."

The weakness was published 10/29/2009 by moz_bug_r_a4 as MFSA2009-57 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-3374. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

Upgrading to version 3.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
