Launch Services in Apple Mac OS X 10.6.x before 10.6.2 recursively clears quarantine information upon opening a quarantined folder, which allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a quarantined application that does not trigger a "potentially unsafe" warning message.
The weakness was published 11/10/2009 by Nicolas Joly with Vmware (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2009-2810 since 08/17/2009. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
