CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Adobe Flash Player (Multimedia Player Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is the function Verifier::parseExceptionHandlers of the component Exception Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a numeric error vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-189. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Integer overflow in the Verifier::parseExceptionHandlers function in Adobe Flash Player before 10.0.42.34 and Adobe AIR before 1.5.3 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via an SWF file with a large exception_count value that triggers memory corruption, related to "generation of ActionScript exception handlers."

The weakness was presented 12/08/2009 by Manuel Caballero (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2009-3799 since 10/26/2009. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 43069 (Adobe AIR < 1.5.3 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB09-19)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 116748 (Adobe Flash Player and AIR Multiple Remote Vulnerabilities (APSB09-19)).

Upgrading to version 9.0.114.0 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 8457.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (54635) and Tenable (43069). See 4071, 51100, 51099 and 51097 for similar entries.
