This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-1708 since 03/16/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 64713 (Oracle Application Express (Apex) CVE-2012-1708), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19664 (Oracle Database April 2012 Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities (CPUAPR2012)).

Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at oracle.com. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
