Use-after-free vulnerability in an unspecified compatibility component in Adobe Shockwave Player before 11.5.9.620 allows user-assisted remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a crafted web site, related to the Shockwave Settings window and an unloaded library. The weakness was shared 11/03/2010 by Krystian Kloskowski (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2010-4092 since 10/25/2010. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 51936 (Shockwave Player < 11.5.9.620 (APSB11-01)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 118959 (Adobe Shockwave Player Multiple Code Execution Vulnerabilities (APSB11-01)).

Upgrading to version 8.0.196 eliminates this vulnerability.
