CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability has been found in Sun JDK 1.5.0/1.6.0 (Programming Tool Software) and classified as problematic. As an impact it is known to affect integrity. The summary by CVE is:

Unspecified vulnerability in the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) in Oracle Java SE and Java for Business 6 Update 23 and earlier, 5.0 Update 27 and earlier, and 1.4.2_29 earlier allows remote untrusted Java Web Start applications and untrusted Java applets to affect integrity via unknown vectors related to Networking. NOTE: the previous information was obtained from the February 2011 CPU. Oracle has not commented on claims from a downstream vendor that this issue involves "DNS cache poisoning by untrusted applets."

The weakness was published 02/17/2011 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at oracle.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2010-4448. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

It is possible to download the exploit at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 68205 (Oracle Linux 5 / 6 : java-1.6.0-openjdk (ELSA-2011-0281)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Oracle Linux Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 185001 (HP-UX Running Java Remote Denial of Service Vulnerability (HPSBUX02777)).

There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (65410), Tenable (68205), SecurityFocus (BID 46091†) and Vulnerability Center (SBV-29840†). Similar entries are available at VDB-4284, VDB-56532, VDB-56531 and VDB-56530.
