Unspecified vulnerability in the Java Embedding Plugin (JEP) in Mozilla Firefox before 3.5.19 and 3.6.x before 3.6.17, and SeaMonkey before 2.0.14, on Mac OS X allows remote attackers to bypass intended access restrictions via unknown vectors.
The weakness was presented 05/07/2011 by David Remahl as Bug 644682 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-0076. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 63402 (GLSA-201301-01 : Mozilla Products: Multiple vulnerabilities (BEAST)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Gentoo Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165559 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security Update Mozilla (SUSE-SA:2011:022)).
Upgrading to version 1.0.9 eliminates this vulnerability.
