The weakness was disclosed 07/17/2012 with Oracle as Patch Day July 2012 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-1734 since 03/16/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1499 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62921 (CentOS 6 : mysql (CESA-2012:1462)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
