A vulnerability has been found in Spamdyke (Anti-Spam Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function snprintf/vsnprintf
of the component spamd. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Multiple buffer overflows in Spamdyke before 4.3.0 might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via vectors related to "serious errors in the usage of snprintf()/vsnprintf()" in which the return values may be larger than the size of the buffer.
The weakness was shared 06/19/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at spamdyke.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-0802 since 01/19/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy.
