A vulnerability was found in Apple iOS up to 5.1.1 (Smartphone Operating System). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component FreeType. FreeType before 2.4.9, as used in Mozilla Firefox Mobile before 10.0.4 and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (invalid heap read operation and memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code via vectors involving the NPUSHB and NPUSHW instructions in a TrueType font.
The weakness was released 09/19/2012 by Mateusz Jurczyk with Google Security Team as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as not defined posting (Website). The advisory is available at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-1135 since 02/14/2012. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
