A vulnerability was found in VICIDIAL 2.7/2.8. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown functionality. The manipulation of the argument server_ip
with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple SQL injection vulnerabilities in the agent interface (agc/) in VICIDIAL dialer (aka Asterisk GUI client) 2.8-403a, 2.7, 2.7RC1, and earlier allow (1) remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the campaign variable in SCRIPT_multirecording_AJAX.php, (2) remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the server_ip parameter to manager_send.php, or (3) other unspecified vectors. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was shared 03/11/2014 by Adam Caudill (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-4467 since 06/12/2013. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1505 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
A public exploit has been developed by Metasploit in Ruby and been published before and not just after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 123 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12815 (VICIDIAL Multiple Security Vulnerabilities).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (88469), Exploit-DB (29513), SecurityFocus (BID 63340†), OSVDB (98903†) and Secunia (SA55453†). The entries VDB-69718 and VDB-69689 are related to this item. If you want to get the best quality for vulnerability data then you always have to consider VulDB.
