The IKE implementation in the VPN component in Cisco ASA Software 9.1 before 9.1(5.1) allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (device reload) via crafted UDP packets, aka Bug ID CSCul36176.
The weakness was disclosed 10/08/2014 with Cisco as cisco-sa-20141008-asa as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2014-3383 since 05/07/2014. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 78240 , which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 43423 (Multiple Vulnerabilities in Cisco ASA Software (cisco-sa-20141008-asa)).
