The weakness was shared 12/11/2012 with Zero Day Initiative as apsb12-27 as confirmed bulletin (Website). The advisory is available at adobe.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-5677 since 10/29/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 63241 (Adobe AIR 3.x <= 3.5.0.600 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB12-27)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166210 (SUSE Security Update for flash-player (openSUSE-SU-2013:0368-1)).
Upgrading to version 11.5.502.135 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 26638.
