It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 63463 (FreeBSD : mozilla -- multiple vulnerabilities (a4ed6632-5aa9-11e2-8fcb-c8600054b392)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. Upgrading to version 18.0 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 12761.
