BMC Track-It! 11.3 allows remote attackers to gain privileges and execute arbitrary code by creating an account whose name matches that of a local system account, then performing a password reset.

The weakness was disclosed 12/12/2014 by Brandon Perry (Website). The advisory is shared at zerodayinitiative.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-8270 since 10/12/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.

A public exploit has been developed in Ruby. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as highly functional.
