The crash reporting feature in Apport 2.13 through 2.17.x before 2.17.1 allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted usr/share/apport/apport file in a namespace (container).

The weakness was shared 04/17/2015 by Tavis Ormandy (Website). The advisory is available at launchpad.net. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-1318 since 01/22/2015. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
