core/dom/Document.cpp in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 43.0.2357.65, enables the inheritance of the designMode attribute, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy by leveraging the availability of editing.

The weakness was disclosed 05/19/2015 by Atte Kettunen (Cloudfuzzer) with Zero Day Initiative as Stable Channel Update, May 2015 as confirmed release notes (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at googlechromereleases.blogspot.ch. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-1254 since 01/21/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The pricing for an exploit might be around USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/19/2022).
