The Web Console in Red Hat Enterprise Application Platform (EAP) before 6.4.4 and WildFly (formerly JBoss Application Server) allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a large request header.
The weakness was released 10/15/2015 by Aaron Ogburn and Jason Greene as RHSA-2015:1908-01 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at rhn.redhat.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-5220 since 07/01/2015. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 86411 (RHEL 5 : JBoss EAP (RHSA-2015:1904)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Red Hat Local Security Checks. Upgrading to version 6.4.4 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
