The WebContentsImpl::FocusLocationBarByDefault function in content/browser/web_contents/web_contents_impl.cc in Google Chrome before 50.0.2661.75 mishandles focus for certain about:blank pages, which allows remote attackers to spoof the address bar via a crafted URL.

The weakness was released 04/18/2016 (Website). The advisory is available at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-1657 since 01/12/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
