The weakness was disclosed 05/16/2016 as HT206565 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-1858 since 01/13/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592. The advisory points out:

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 91311 (Apple TV < 9.2.1 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Misc. and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370008 (Apple Safari 9.1.1 Not Installed (APPLE-SA-2016-05-16-5)).
Upgrading to version 9.1.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
