The GeoServices component in Apple iOS before 10 and watchOS before 3 does not properly restrict access to PlaceData information, which allows attackers to discover physical locations via a crafted application.
The weakness was presented 09/13/2016 by Raul Siles with DinoSec as HT207143 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-4719 since 05/11/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. The successful exploitation needs a single authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. A permissions issue existed in PlaceData. This issue was addressed through improved permission validation.
