The ReadGROUP4Image function in coders/tiff.c in ImageMagick does not check the return value of the fwrite function, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted file.

The bug was discovered 12/26/2016. The weakness was shared 03/02/2017 by Bastien Roucaries (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-10062 since 12/26/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
