lxc-user-nic in Linux Containers (LXC) allows local users with a lxc-usernet allocation to create network interfaces on the host and choose the name of those interfaces by leveraging lack of netns ownership check.
The bug was discovered 03/14/2017. The weakness was released 03/14/2017 by Jann Horn (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lists.linuxcontainers.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-5985 since 02/13/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication.
