Nextcloud Server before 9.0.54 and 10.0.0 suffers from an improper authorization check on removing shares. The Sharing Backend as implemented in Nextcloud does differentiate between shares to users and groups. In case of a received group share, users should be able to unshare the file to themselves but not to the whole group. The previous API implementation simply unshared the file to all users in the group.
The bug was discovered 10/10/2016. The weakness was released 03/28/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-9464 since 11/19/2016. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. A authentication is necessary for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1548.002.
