A vulnerability was found in PHP up to 7.1.3 (Programming Language Software). It has been rated as critical. Affected by this issue is the function fsockopen
. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a server-side request forgery vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-918. The web server receives a URL or similar request from an upstream component and retrieves the contents of this URL, but it does not sufficiently ensure that the request is being sent to the expected destination. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
PHP through 7.1.3 enables potential SSRF in applications that accept an fsockopen hostname argument with an expectation that the port number is constrained. Because a :port syntax is recognized, fsockopen will use the port number that is specified in the hostname argument, instead of the port number in the second argument of the function.
