Huawei FusionAccess V100R005C10/V100R005C20 LDAP ldap injection

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

A vulnerability was found in Huawei FusionAccess V100R005C10/V100R005C20 and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown functionality of the component LDAP Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a ldap injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-90. The software constructs all or part of an LDAP query using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended LDAP query when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality. CVE summarizes:

Huawei FusionAccess with software V100R005C10 and V100R005C20 could allow remote attackers with specific permission to inject a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) operation command into a specific input variable to obtain sensitive information from the database.

The bug was discovered 11/30/2016. The weakness was disclosed 04/02/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-8779 since 10/18/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The current price for an exploit might be approx. USD $0-$5k (estimation calculated on 11/24/2022). The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.

The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 123 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
