CVE-2026-100363 in SuiteCRMinfo

Summary

by MITRE • 11/05/2026

SuiteCRM is an open-source, enterprise-ready Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software application. Prior to 7.15.2 and 8.10.2, the V8 module API exposes CRUD operations for administrator-only modules to any authenticated OAuth2 user. The affected flow begins at /Api/V8/module and uses ACLRoles, ACLActions, and Administration to carry attacker-controlled data or authorization state into the security-sensitive operation. A low-privileged user can create roles, change ACL levels, bind elevated roles, and alter global configuration to obtain administrator-equivalent control of CRM data and behavior. This issue is fixed in versions 7.15.2 and 8.10.2.

SuiteCRM serves as a widely deployed open-source Customer Relationship Management platform designed for enterprise environments, relying heavily on strict access controls to protect sensitive business data. The vulnerability identified involves the V8 module API, which is intended to provide programmatic access to CRM functionalities via RESTful endpoints. Specifically, prior to versions 7.15.2 and 8.10.2, this API endpoint exposed critical CRUD operations for modules that are restricted to administrator privileges only. This architectural flaw allows any authenticated user possessing a valid OAuth2 token to interact with these protected resources, bypassing the intended role-based access control mechanisms inherent in the application's security model.

The technical root cause of this vulnerability lies in how the API endpoint handles authorization checks during request processing. The flow initiates at the /Api/V8/module path and improperly utilizes internal classes such as ACLRoles, ACLActions, and Administration to process requests. Crucially, these components accept attacker-controlled data or manipulate authorization states without sufficient validation against the requesting user's actual privilege level. This lack of rigorous input sanitization and context-aware permission verification enables a low-privileged user to inject malicious parameters that alter the execution path. By exploiting this flaw, an adversary can effectively elevate their privileges by creating new roles with elevated permissions, modifying Access Control List levels, binding these high-level roles to their own account, or altering global configuration settings.

The operational impact of this vulnerability is severe, as it results in a complete compromise of administrative control over the SuiteCRM instance. An attacker who successfully exploits this flaw can obtain administrator-equivalent access without needing valid admin credentials. This level of access allows for unrestricted manipulation of CRM data, including viewing confidential customer information, modifying sales pipelines, and deleting critical records. Furthermore, the ability to alter global configuration settings may enable further persistence mechanisms or lateral movement within the network if the application is integrated with other systems that trust SuiteCRM's administrative authority. The breach undermines the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the organization's customer relationship data.

This vulnerability aligns with CWE-269, which describes Improper Privilege Management, as it involves a failure to enforce proper access control policies for privileged functions. Additionally, from an offensive security perspective, this exploit maps directly to MITRE ATT&CK technique T1078, Valid Accounts, specifically the sub-category of Local Account manipulation or privilege escalation via application logic flaws. The attacker leverages valid credentials not just to log in, but to abuse API functionality that should be restricted, effectively escalating privileges through misconfigured authorization checks rather than traditional credential theft.

Mitigation for this issue requires immediate upgrading to SuiteCRM version 7.15.2 or 8.10.2 and later, where the vendor has implemented fixes to restrict access to administrator-only modules within the V8 API. Organizations should also enforce strict OAuth2 token scopes to limit the permissions granted to client applications interacting with the CRM. Regular security audits of custom integrations and API endpoints are recommended to ensure that privilege escalation vectors are identified and patched promptly. Monitoring for unusual role creation or configuration changes via audit logs can provide early detection indicators if similar vulnerabilities exist in other parts of the application stack.
