Type confusion in PDFium in Google Chrome prior to 58.0.3029.81 for Mac, Windows, and Linux, and 58.0.3029.83 for Android, allowed a remote attacker to perform an out of bounds memory read via a crafted PDF file.
The bug was discovered 04/19/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/19/2017 by Wadih Matar with Zero Day Initiative as Stable Channel Update for Desktop, April 2017 as confirmed news (Website). The advisory is available at chromereleases.googleblog.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-5057 since 01/02/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
