A vulnerability has been found in Apple tvOS up to 10.2.0 (Digital Media Player) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the component AVEVideoEncoder. An issue was discovered in certain Apple products. iOS before 10.3.2 is affected. tvOS before 10.2.1 is affected. watchOS before 3.2.2 is affected. The issue involves the "AVEVideoEncoder" component. It allows attackers to execute arbitrary code in a privileged context or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted app.
The bug was discovered 05/17/2017. The weakness was disclosed 05/22/2017 with Zimperium zLabs (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-6997 since 03/17/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation.
