A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Synology DiskStation Manager 4.3-3776 (Network Attached Storage Software). Affected is some unknown processing of the file /scripts/uistrings.cgi of the component Web Interface. The manipulation of the argument lang with the input value aaa[…] leads to a privileges management vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and integrity.
The weakness was shared 09/10/2013 by Andrea Fabrizi with andreafabrizi.it as Synology DSM multiple vulnerabilities as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org.
