A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in LAME 3.99.5. Affected is the function II_step_one of the file layer2.c of the component mpglib. The manipulation as part of a Audio File leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The II_step_one function in layer2.c in mpglib, as used in libmpgdecoder.a in LAME 3.99.5 and other products, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (buffer over-read and application crash) via a crafted audio file.
The bug was discovered 06/17/2017. The weakness was presented 06/25/2017 by Agostino Sarubbo with Gentoo (Website). The advisory is available at exploit-db.com.
