A vulnerability was found in Automatic Bug Reporting Tool (Reporting Software) (version now known). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the file /var/tmp/abrt/*/maps. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a link following vulnerability. Automatic Bug Reporting Tool (ABRT) allows local users to read, change the ownership of, or have other unspecified impact on arbitrary files via a symlink attack on (1) /var/tmp/abrt/*/maps, (2) /tmp/jvm-*/hs_error.log, (3) /proc/*/exe, (4) /etc/os-release in a chroot, or (5) an unspecified root directory related to librpm.
The bug was discovered 04/15/2015. The weakness was published 06/26/2017 by Andy (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-3315 since 04/16/2015. Attacking locally is a requirement. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication.
