A vulnerability was found in ImageMagick up to 6.9.8-9/7.5.x (Image Processing Software). It has been declared as problematic. The WriteBlob function in MagickCore/blob.c in ImageMagick before 6.9.8-10 and 7.x before 7.6.0-0 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (assertion failure and application exit) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 06/04/2017. The weakness was shared 07/23/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.debian.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-11524 since 07/22/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
