A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in ImageMagick up to 6.9.8/7.0.6-0 (Image Processing Software). This issue affects the function ReadDIBImage of the file coders/dib.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The ReadDIBImage function in coders/dib.c in ImageMagick before 6.9.9-0 and 7.x before 7.0.6-1 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory leak) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 06/24/2017. The weakness was presented 07/23/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.debian.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-11528 since 07/22/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
